The Kills have released a special “making of” video for “The Last Goodbye.” The video is a behind the scenes glimpse into the making of the video and features interviews by the band along with the Oscar nominated actress turned director Samantha Morton.
“The Last Goodbye” is off The Kills’ latest album, Blood Pressures. The song is a cool departure for the band, slowing things down for a bit and showing off their soft side.
You can view the original video below. “The Last Goodbye” single will be released as a limited edition 7″ picture disc as well as a 10″ via The Kills’ webstore on February 21, 2012 and digitally on February 14, 2012. The track list is after the jump.
In addition to that, The Kills are going on the road to celebrate their tenth anniversary. The tour includes a sold out stop in New York at Terminal 5 on February 11.
This is going to be a new, regular-ish feature. Looking back at some great albums from 2002 (heck may even go back to 1992), TheMusic.FM is going to engage in commentary, looking at some highlights, low lights, flashes in the pans and missed opportunities.
We’re starting off with Turn on the Bright Lights by Interpol. Interpol released their debut on August 20, 2002 on Matador Records. It has received plenty of accolades including being named best album of 2002 by Pitchfork as well as being named one of the best albums of the aughts by magazines like NME and Rolling Stone.
It seems like not a day goes by without some new Miike Snow development. This time it is yet another new song from Happy to You, “Black Tin Box,” which features Lykke Li.
Happy to You is slowly rounding into shape. Having heard “Devil’s Work” and “Paddling Out” previously, Miike Snow have definitely grown as a band. Working as true collaborators, the songs are richly textured and the production is slick.
You’d expect such production mastery though from Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg (Bloodshy and Avant). The duo, in case you don’t know, have been coveted pop producers and their time crafting #1 singles pays off when it comes to creating intricate and layered music.
I think the real surprise out of “Padling Out” and “Devil’s Work” is the vocals of Andrew Wyatt. There is a depth and character to Wyatt’s voice that adds a nice emotional layer to the songs. “Black Tin Box” furthers this evolution and now Lykke Li joins in on the fun. Check it out here. Enjoy a remix of “Devil’s Work” by Alex Metric above.
In addition to that, it seems clear New York loves Miike Snow. New York loves Miike Snow so much that the April 24 date at Terminal 5 is sold out. Don’t wory though as Miike Snow has announced another date at Terminal one day later on April 25. Tickets are on sale now.
That noise you are hearing is not an inner ear problem, it’s just Cloud Nothings. Cloud Nothings have released their sophomore record, Attack on Memory (review coming), and are settling in for a very busy 2012.
Cloud Nothings are possibly unassuming but the man behind the project, Dylan Baldi, knows what he wants. Targeting Steve Albini to produce Attack on Memory made it known that Cloud Nothings were striving for an actual sound that connected rather than one that was cultivated.
If you’re not convinced, check out the video for “No Future/No Past” above. You can also stream all of Attack on Memory at Complex.
